Heribert Wüstenberg, born on 28th November, 1939, in Bergisch Gladbach, died on 27th August 2014 in Cologne

He was a man for whom no way was too rocky, even if he was not too well.

He worked for years as an independent journalist for a Koblenz station, after that, he directed the media association “Bild und Ton Colonia e.V.”. He was always engaged for media and particularly keen in the radio history of Cologne and the whole world.

With 15 members, he founded in 1999 the “Förderverein RadioMuseum Köln e.V.” (RadioMUseum Cologne funding association), with the aim to build in Cologne a radio museum, in order to be able to keep alive and explain children and their children the history of radio.

Since then, Heribert Wüstenberg has been working indefatiguably for his museum, he has been searching one flea market after another, bought rare devices and rented the 500 square metres basement, in which the RadioMuseum is based.

Heribert Wüstenbergs particular request were the various school projects which could be performed.

Without people like Heribert Wüstenberg, cultural achievements of the most recent past would have been forgotten completely – the succeeding generations would have no understanding of it.

Due to his enormous contribution for this awesome project, the RadioMuseum Cologne funding association has become an insitution recognised worldwide.

On August 27th, 2014, the founder of the museum, honour member and good friend Heribert Wüstenberg passed away after long illness.

We will continue his work in his sense and keep his memory in honour.
